Oncologic patient support

People with cancer that are under treatment with chemotherapy or radiotherapy can have negative effects, such as sores in the mouth, urinary bladder, vagina, rectum or bowels. The ministration of pressurized oxygen can effectively cure these cases of stomatitis, cystitis, proctitis or vaginitis derived from radiation that severely conditions the life of the patient.

At the hyperbaric clinic of the Costa Brava hospital we collaborate with the ICO Girona and when the professionals detect that the oncologic treatment has caused negative effects, the hyperbaric chamber treatment gets scheduled. One of the most common effects is colitis and cystitis, produced when radiotherapy damages other organs (like the bladder) when attacking prostate, colon or abdominal cancers.
