Hemodialysis department

In our hemodialysis department we apply different techniques to adapt to the situation of any given patient and improve their quality of life.

High flow or low flow hemodialysis

Our hemodialysis department is formed of a medical team of 4 specialists in nephrology (with full dedication) and 11 graduated nurses (one per each 4 monitors). We have controlled ultrafiltration monitors and we perform high flow dialysis with bicarbonate and using biocompatible one-use filters of medium and high permeability. We have a specific room for patients with positive serology of hepatitis C virus, with exclusive nursery staff, which guarantees a correct isolation to minimize any contagion risks.

Online hemodiafiltration

This extrarenal depuration procedure increase the depuration of uremic toxins and gets a decrease of mortality in 3 years of a 30% (you can see the following study published at the Journal of American Society of Nephrology).

Our center complies with all safety requirements necessary to apply this procedure, which requires a special treatment of the dialysis water, specific monitors and safety filters with the goal of getting an ultrapure liquid to infuse the patient with.

Hemodialysis vascular access ultrasound screening

In case of dysfunction of the vascular access, we have the Echo-Doppler study, in charge of the radiology clinic and one nephrologist from the staff. This is how we can detect stenosis or thrombosis and make the right choices to maintain the correct permeability of the access.

We also perform a venous check of the upper limbs (vascular ABPM), prior to conducting the vascular access.
